Ayurveda is the most ancient recorded science about life given to mankind. It is also one of the most remarkable holistic medical systems in the world, based on the unity of All That Is. Ayurveda restores the integrity of the physical and Supreme I as its ultimate goal is physical and spiritual healing.
Different kinds of food, oils, herbs and spices, colors, precious stones and crystals are its main resources. The methods used are dietary regimes, massages, essential oils, steam and dry saunas, herbal baths, yoga and breathing exercises. The main objective of Ayurveda is the eradication of diseases, which are an obstacle to fulfillment of desires and possession of wealth. Its acquisition requires harmonization of the individual birth prakriti balance.
Ayurveda means science of life in translation from Sanskrit. It has a philosophical and practical side. The Earth is perceived as a set of five elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether. These five elements also form the human constitution. There are also three main types of doshas in various ratios - Vata, Pitta and Kapha and their combinations. Pure dosha types are very rare.

There are two main pillars of the treatment and maintenance of health and beauty in Ayurveda:
1. Proper diet and balanced eating in accordance with the individual constitution combined with a system of breathing and physical exercises.
2. Cleansing the body off its toxins. This is achieved by special diets, different methods of massage, steam and water treatments, the use of herbs, oils, crystals and colors as well as specific physical methods called Pancha karma.

Ayurveda is valuable and wise because it assesses the human condition individually. Ayurvedic diagnosis is times advanced in detecting the imbalance of the body, i.e. there are diagnostic methods to detect the impending disease before the actual one.
In Ayurveda diseases can be classified according to their origin as mental, physical and spiritual or according to the organs they affect as heart, liver, lung etc. The disease process may begin in the stomach or the intestines but to appear as a cardiac or pulmonary disease. Therefore, the symptoms of the disease can occur in a place remote from the place of its origin.

The disbalance of the doshas Vikritiwhich causes the disease, may originate in the mind as some negative change, since the seeds of diseases are in the subconsciousness in the form of anger, fear or attachment. So emotions find expression in the body and vice versa. For example, abnormalities in the colon lead to fear, depression and nervousness, which is a Vata disbalnce. A Pitta surplus will cause hatred, anger, jealousy and envy. A Kafa imbalance leads to greed, attachment and desire to possess. When the dosha balance is impaired the body produces toxins which circulate throughout the whole body. During the circulation the toxins accumulate in the weak spots of the body.
The biological fire Agni acts as a catalyst for the metabolism. It is present everywhere, in every cell and it is indispensable for the nutrition of the tissues and the effectiveness of the immune system as it destroys the harmful microorganisms. Thus it protects the physical flora. Agni is responsible for long-life expectancy. Intelligence, understanding, ability to accept are also its functions. Enzyme systems completely depend on it. When functioning normally the degrading-food processes and its absorption run properly. A disturbance of equilibrium in the three doshas impairs the digestion fire Agni and it harms the metabolism. Nutrients remain deposited unground in the colon. When not absorbed they turn into scrappy, smelly, sticky substance which causes toxic conditions. These toxins are called Ama and they accumulate everywhere. Ama undergoes chemical changes that alter the entire human chemistry. Toxins dissolve in blood and through it they contaminate the entire body including the heart and brain. It results in blockages, spasms, pains and diseases of organs and systems. Ama is the root of all diseases. Emotional factors also lead to the formation of toxins. For example, the suppressed anger totally changes the biochemistry and flora of the liver, bile, small intestines and harms Pitta. Fear and anxiety harm the colon. As a result the abdomen inflates, “pockets” in the colon are formed, it causes pain which is wrongly assumed to be some liver or heart problem. Suppressed feelings disbalance Vata, which in turn inhibits Agni, as a result toxins form and the circle of suffering closes. Suppressed hatred and anger upset Pitta balance and lead to persistent allergies.
People who suppress Kafa emotions such as attachment and greed are allergic to dairy products, they are susceptible to colds, pulmonary and lymphatic diseases.
Ayurveda recommends impartial observation of the emotions until they scatter and disappear. Emotional inhibitions lead to lower levels of intellectual power, imbecility, forgetfulness, poor memory, stress and subsequently to diseases of the physical body.
